When you see these photos, you might think that they have been taken from some kind of sci-fi movie or have been edited. You will be surprised to know that these are photos of Japan’s largest wisteria plant. The wisteria plan is a purple and pink plant that can grow to an unimaginable size. It is located in Ashikaga Flower Park in Japan, although not the biggest in the world, these plants occupy 1990 square meters or half an acre and have been around since 1870. The largest wisteria plant in the world today is the one located in Sierra Madre, California, occupying an astonishing 4000 square meters.
You may see them as trees, but actually, they are vines. It is known that when they keep growing, vines tend to get heavy. So in order for people to be allowed to walk beneath them and enjoy the amazing colors of the vines, they have to be supported by a steel structure.
